The Eden Alternative® Domains of Well-Being.

Since 1973, Tideview Terrace has been a significant part of the community of Digby, Nova Scotia. At Tideview Terrace we are proud of the picturesque and diverse community that we have built over the past five decades. At Tideview Terrace, we are committed to the Eden Alternative and person-directed approach, which we adopted in 2008. This approach empowers our residents to direct their lives, creating a true atmosphere of home. Our current home was constructed in 2011, introducing neighbourhoods and houses, each with their own unique flair and flavour. The personality and character of each neighbourhood are always evolving, shaped by both residents and care partners. Each of our 10 houses is home to nine residents, and each neighbourhood has a name with community and historical significance. This fosters a sense of connectedness and enhances the feeling of home for all members of the Tideview Terrace community.

PHILOSOPHY OF CARE

We live the EDEN Alternative philosophy everyday, seeking to remake the experience of ageing and creating a better world for our residents and care partners. There is a commitment to keep residents secure, content and joyous in their new home and through person-directed care we strive to combat loneliness, helplessness, and boredom.

Community Features

Tideview Terrace is dedicated to creating a home that emphasizes quality of life and encourages the growth of each member of its community. The residents are esteemed and entitled to the best supportive care, focusing on emotional, intellectual, spiritual, and physical well-being.

Get Involved

There is a feeling when you walk through the doors of Tideview Terrace
that is hard to explain. It is truly a loving family atmosphere.

Your Support

Tideview Terrace is a not-for-profit organization that relies on the support of its friends, family and community to provide assistance for programming for our Residents. While the Department of Seniors and Long-Term Care funds basic healthcare and building operations, we rely on fundraising for specialized equipment, furniture, transportation, and recreational programming. Your generous support is greatly appreciated. A little bit goes a long way to support our Residents.

LAND ACKNOWLEDGEMENT

Tideview Terrace acknowledges that we live, work and learn on Mi’kma’ki, the traditional, ancestral and unceded territory of the Mi’Kmaq people. We recognize the deep history of the Mi’Kmaq as the caretakers of this land and that this territory is covered by the treaties of Peace & Friendship, which remain effective today. Tideview Terrace commits to being a steward and doing its part to honour and protect the land, water, and all that grows and co-exists with it. Tideview Terrace acknowledges the Eurocentric history of healthcare and practicing only from this standpoint causes harm. We are open to adopting traditional practices and ways of caring that are outside of the Eurocentric healthcare practices. We commit to truth, reconciliation, and unlearning colonial mindsets and practices by growing our knowledge and adapting the ways of working in long-term care. We are all treaty people.
