Clinical Dietitian

Within the interdisciplinary team of health practitioners, the incumbent will work towards maximizing the abilities and well-being of residents living in a 90 bed Eden Alternative Registered home (long term care facility). The primary purpose of this position is to serve the Residents as a specialist in clinical and therapeutic nutrition by assessing, developing, implementing and evaluating nutrition care. The incumbent of the position is to work under the direction of the Mission Statement, Standards, Eden Principles, and Policies and Procedures of Tideview Terrace.

LPN

The LPN can create, assist to develop, will review, and update the resident care plan keeping it current, in accordance with their scope of practice. The LPN implements and delivers the care as outlined on the resident care plan. They are responsible for coordinating and supervising the care for each resident for their assigned area while fostering a positive team approach. The LPN will lead by example the Eden Philosophy of Care thus demonstrate the key importance of resident choice, resident flexibility and resident relationships when interacting with the residents, their families, and all disciplinary members.

Neighbourhood Manager

This position has primary responsibility for the overall coordination and management of a Neighbourhood of 27 residents plus staff; for the leadership, and promotion of the Eden Alternative Philosophy of Care. As a member of the senior management team the successful incumbent will participate in discussions and activities related to the operation of the organization which may include strategic planning, policy and procedure development, education, acquisition, utilization and monitoring of both fiscal and personnel resources.

As part of the multidisciplinary team, the Occupational Therapist provides assessment, care planning, consultation, intervention, and follow-up. Registered Nurse

The Registered Nurse (RN) works in collaboration with the Nursing & Allied Health Lead, as well as the RN Clinical Leads. The RN will lead by example the Eden Philosophy of Care, demonstrating the key importance of resident choice, resident flexibility and resident relationships when interacting with the residents, their families, and all members of the care team. The RN will identify and communicate residents’ needs, and is responsible for the assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of their care.

Support Services Worker

The Support Service staff person is accountable to the residents’ to ensure a high quality of work is maintained while balancing tasks with residents’ needs and relationships. They work under the direction of the Neighbourhood Manager, Dietitian, and Support Service Lead Hand as a member of the multidisciplinary team. The Support Service staff person works in providing an Eden Alternative approach to resident directed care. The staff person works within the framework, policies and objectives as set out by Tideview Terrace and the Department of Seniors & Long Term Care.

Volunteering

Volunteers at Tideview Terrace play a crucial role in enhancing the wellbeing of our residents, fostering a sense of community, and providing additional support to our staff. As an Eden Alternative Philosophy home, we seek to create a more vibrant and fulfilling living environment at Tideview. The philosophy focuses on combating the three plagues of loneliness, helplessness and boredom and emphasized the importance of meaningful relationship, empowerment, and home-like atmosphere. Volunteer services are often diverse and can be tailored to meet the unique needs of our residents. Here is a description of what volunteering services might look like at Tideview: 

  1. Companionship & Social Activities
    • Volunteers can spend time engaging in conversations, playing games, reading, or simply providing companionship to residents.
  2. Assistance with Recreation Programs
    • Volunteers can help with recreation programs such as exercise classes, movie nights, BINGO, art classes, coffee shop, or outings to local events.
  3. Mealtime Support
    • Volunteers can assist during mealtimes, by helping make, serve or assist residents with meals.
  4. Educational Programs
    • Volunteers can offer educational sessions on various topics, ranging from technology tutorials to book clubs, to keep residents mentally engaged and informed.
  5. Intergenerational Programs
    • Collaborative programs with local schools or community groups that involve interactions between residents and younger generations.
  6. Spiritual Care Services
    • Volunteers may facilitate or assist with religious services or observations, respecting the diverse spiritual background of our residents. This could also include organizing prayer groups, scripture readings or religious discussions.
  7. Outdoor and Nature Activities
    • Volunteers may assist residents with gardening, nature walks, or spending time in the sunshine.
    • Volunteering with our Cycling without Age Program, where they assist residents in experiencing the joy of cycling and wind in their hair using a specialized electric pedal assisted bike.
  8. Musical Entertainment
    • Volunteers with musical talents such as singers, instrumentalists or bands can provide live performances to residents.
