Community Features
Recreation
At Tideview Terrace, our Recreation Department thrives on resident-driven programming, ensuring every activity reflects the diverse interests and abilities of our community. The Recreation team plans programs, celebrations and events within the houses and larger groups within our Seaside Centre. From intimate gatherings to larger outings, the recreation team works hard to create meaningful experiences for all. A monthly calendar is available in the houses to keep you informed of upcoming events. You can also expect to be pleasantly surprised by spontaneous activities and outings.
Nutrition
Comforting and familiar foods are a staple at Tideview Terrace. Our 5-week menu offers many local favorites and is designed by our residents with the support of our Registered Dietitian. Breakfast is served according to resident preference, lunch at 11:45am and supper at 4:45pm. Snacks and beverages are offered in the afternoon and evening, or at request. Our Registered Dietitian will visit new residents soon after they move in to perform a clinical assessment and to learn about their food likes and dislikes.
All of our resident houses are equipped with a full kitchen. Family and friends are welcome to use these spaces when visiting their loved ones.
If family or friends wish to bring in food to Tideview Terrace, please ensure safe food-handling practices are followed. Prepackaged foods such as cookies, candies, crackers, and fresh fruit may go directly to the resident’s room. We ask that any food items that may quickly spoil or need to be heated/cooked be brought to the house kitchen to be safely stored.
Housekeeping & Laundry
A clean and safe home for our residents and care partners is provided each day by our dedicated support service team. Residents are supported in contributing to their households through meaningful housekeeping and laundry tasks, such as sweeping, setting tables for a meal, or folding laundry.
All of our resident houses have a laundry room that is available for residents and their loved ones to use. Additionally, we have a central laundry for residents who desire for their laundry to be cared for by our laundry team.
Rehabilitation
The rehabilitation team at Tideview Terrace consists of a rehabilitation assistant, occupational therapist, and physiotherapist, who are committed to enhancing quality of life through personalized care. From physical therapy that focuses on mobility and strength, to occupational therapy geared towards fostering daily living skills, the rehabilitation team strives to support residents’ abilities and promote a sense of autonomy.
Medical Care
Our continuing care assistants, licensed practical nurses, registered nurses, allied health professionals, pharmacist, and physician collaborate to provide medical care for our residents that honours resident choice and balances therapeutic and palliative interventions. In addition to the daily care provided in our resident houses, the care team also hosts annual care conferences for residents and their loved ones where we review the unique desires and needs of each resident. If you have questions or concerns regarding the care of your loved one, please contact one of the RN clinical leads.
